The Dalaran Spellscribe was an old rare who could spawn as a fe/male in one of three spots in Ambermill, Silverpine Forest – inside the town hall, the small shack to the left and inside the house to the right of the town hall’s entrance.
They had three mage abilities –
- Frost Armor
- Frostbolt
- Freeze
They were a popular rare due to the 20% chance to drop the Cat Carrier (Black Tabby). I managed to farm a few of the cats for my toons before they removed the rare.
However, since s/he was friendly to Alliance players, the only way they could acquire the pet was through the neutral Auction House.
The pet will periodically yawn, sit, and lie down. I’ve read that after Patch 4.0.3, the Black Tabby was relocated to Hillsbrad Foothills as a zone drop, making it more accessible for Alliance.
It’s interesting to note, if Stinker (the skunk) is nearby, he will fall in love with the Black Tabby and chase it around. This seems to work with any black cat. :)
