Early on, I knew I wouldn’t be making the Jeweled Onyx Panther until late in the expansion and it turns out I was right. It was only when I was working on my 200th mount achievement, I decided to add the Jade Panther, Ruby Panther, Sunstone Panther and Sapphire Panther to my collection.

After getting exalted with the Order of the Cloud Serpent, I managed to make two of the JC panthers for Cool and I. Getting a full stack of Wild Jade and River’s Heart seemed to take the most time. At 86, I went on a major mining run. It was quite dicey making my way to the Dread Wastes but I found that Trillium gave the best chances for blue-quality gems. The Mining Pick didn’t really yield much of a bonus though. In 400 pieces of ore, I only managed to get two green-quality gems.

As I prospected my way to a near-full stack of Wild Jade, I decided to trade in four of my Spirits of Harmony (on two characters) for twelve Golden Lotus (plus the two we already had in the G bank) and transmuted my way to 21 Wild Jade and 20 River’s Heart. Not many procs, unfortunately, even as a transmute master but I got what I needed so I was happy.

I wrapped the mount up for Cool to surprise him the next day. I couldn’t wait for him to notice his new mail icon and hear his reaction upon opening it, making sure not to say anything about it until he noticed the mail himself. Luckily he opened it that afternoon while I was around.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about the Jeweled Onyx Panther again. After finding an Orb of Mystery in a Blingtron Gift Package, it sat in the guild bank for months until I decided to focus on the last panther finally. I had enough gold to buy two more orbs but it was a struggle getting enough for the last. In the end, I asked Cool to loan me the last 10K I needed.

Such a fitting mount for a JC who likes her bling.

Something to go with my Jewelled Fishing Pole perhaps?
