Smite was always one of my favourite bosses from vanilla. I used to love listening to his familiar dialogue in Deadmines and was always a bit sad to see him die each time. When I learnt about this special compass from Yorik Sharpeye – one of the Champion spawns in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, I was itching to get his novelty drop. Sadly, I was never able to see it during the beta and have tried to get it ever since.
After countless kills, I finally saw him drop Mr. Smite’s Brass Compass.
Before I used it, I had to go back to the place that started it all – Deadmines. Cool was lucky enough to get the item a while ago and he’s had a lot of fun using it in dungeons and raids. So what’s better than seeing one long-lost first mate? Seeing two, of course!
When you first use the item, he’ll war stomp and yell “You there! Check out that noise!”. On occasion, he’ll also yell in combat:
You land lubbers are tougher than I thought! I’ll have to improvise!
D’ah! Now you’re making me angry!
We’re under attack! Avast ye swabs! Repel the invaders!
As you can see, he can wield several different weapons (just like the original dungeon version). The item lasts 10mins with a 2 hr CD.
The good news is, it won’t break in combat (unless you’re a druid) and can mount with the illusion so have fun while it lasts.
Oh snap, another costume item for me to farm, lol. That warstomp will go perfect with our guild macro. =)

I don’t think I can kill Yorik Sharpeye. I’ve spent so much time pet battling next to him we’ve kind of become buddies, well, until someone swoops down and kills him next to me, lol!
THAT is really cool! I want one! Will have to keep an eye out for that rare.
